james turrell

Large Holograms, James Turrell's new exhibit at PaceWildenstein, consists of fifteen new transmission light works that successfully "examine the phenomenon of the light itself, capturing its normally fleeting qualities and allowing light to become the object." Also of note, a major retrospective of his work is planned for the Guggenheim in 2012.

After a recent cleaning and thorough re-examination, the Met confirms that "Portrait of a Man" is indeed by the Spanish master. But the question lingers, is it a self-portrait?

Ethan Ham is a stud. The new show he is curating at Gallery Aferro "is a series of photographs, each by a different artist. The artists are asked to replicate the previous artist's photograph. The result is a visual game of "Telephone" in which the image slowly (and sometimes abruptly) mutates through the process of recreation."
