roxy paine

Roxy Paine welcomes spring with an installation on the roof of the Met. "Maelstrom" is a "130-foot-long treelike sculpture made from 10,000 pieces of stainless steel." It is an interesting counterpoint to Frederick Law Olmsted's masterpiece.

ruben ochoa

The work of Ruben Ochoa was recently brought to my attention. His current show at Peter Blum "continues his investigation into urban locations under contention" by using industrial materials that "emphasize his concern with sculpture as architecture and with architecture as a manifestation of its surrounding environment".
